Real Trains was sold to RMI Railworks and The Machinery Works
Real Trains’ line of products has been split between two new owners. Howard Gorin of The Machinery Works, (www.themachineryworks.com) will be offering the 1.5″ scale locomotives, cars, trucks, the track system, and will still be running under the name Real Trains. RMI Railworks has acquired the complete line of the 2.5″ scale and up locomotives, cars, trucks, wheels, and detail parts.
For convenience, RMI Railworks (www.rmirailworks.com) will be using the same part numbers for the items formally sold under the Real Trains line. The former website (www.realtrains.com) and phone number (909) 446-0600 will still be usable. When calling, the automated system will asked for what scale of product you are looking for and will forward the call to the appropriate company.
Contact information: The Machinery Works at (617) 566-3628 or RMI Railworks at (805) 389-9065.
New Advertiser! Welcome Elm Ridge Manufacturing!
Owner Bill Esther writes, “At one time we worked for Betty Cole, of Cole’s Power Model’s (1976-1980). At that time we machined all of their scale pipe fittings, the 1/8th and 3/16th whistles, and built 39 Worthington Pumps.” Today, they have a complete CNC machine shop that can be viewed on their website at www.elmridgemfg.com. If builders would like parts machined, from their prints, they can just send them a copy of the print and they will be glad to give them a quote. Bill continues, “I have been associated with the Live Steam hobby since the early 1950s.
“If you would like, you could go to the Yankee Shop website and look at the Tom Thumb picture, which is the one my friend and I built in 1954. It’s shown sitting on the turntable at Little Engines in Lomita, California.”
